READY SET

An introduction to the world of dance, for our 2.5 to 4 year old students. The Edge of Dance is the Affiliate Ready Set Dance location of Westchester. There are three styles: Ready Set Ballet/Tap, Ready Set Hip Hop/Acro, and Ready Set Dance (combo class). The classes aim to develop the three ‘C’s - coordination, creativity and confidence. The exercises are all designed to help preschoolers achieve developmental milestones. Ballet/Tap dancers must wear pink tights, pink ballet slippers, black tap shoes, and any solid color leotard. Those in our Hip Hop/Acro and Dance classes should wear anything they can dance comfortably in and bare feet. Learn more here.

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation for all forms of dance. Ballet helps develop grace, balance, discipline, technique and terminology required to excel as a dancer. Students build foundation through barre exercises, centre work, across the floor allegros, and centre adagio combinations. We strive to increase strength while developing classical lines and artistic expression. Students must wear a solid colored leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet slippers, and hair in a bun!

JAZZ

Jazz dance can take many different paths and is often influenced by other dance styles. Jazz dancers greatly benefit from a sound working knowledge and appreciation for ballet technique. Jazz classes incorporate the techniques of many great jazz masters and choreographers. Jazz combinations reflect the work of choreographers such as Bob Fosse, Jermone Robbins, and Jack Cole.

Taught by our very own Senior Competition Team dancers (Kaylah, Emery, and Zoe), KEZ Dance classes offer a mix of styles including hip hop and choreography seen in pop culture (e.g. TikTok). They also throw fun dance birthday parties for dancers of all ages. Whether you’re looking to learn a fun combo, improve your technique, or just want to dance with your friends, KEZ brings the energy, the music, and the good vibes. Check out KEZ!

KEZ Dance

"Acro" consists of beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels of tumbling. It stresses flexibility, control, and strength. Acro classes teach exercises such as forward and back rolls, dive rolls, hand stands, front and back limbers and walkovers, cartwheels, aerials, round-offs, back hand springs, back tucks and many more! Students utilize our Tumbl Trak to facilitate the acquisition of new "tricks" and reduce impact on the body. No shoes!

ACROBATICS

Tap classes consist of fundamental rhythms and proper tap technique. Tap dance focuses on the interpretation and progression of various rhythms and sounds. Other techniques such as turns, jumps, and smooth footwork are also incorporated. Elementary classes must wear mary jane style tap shoes, while Intermediate and Advanced classes are required to wear jazz taps.

TAP

HIP HOP

Hip Hop classes incorporate the fundamentals of contemporary funk through various popping, breaking, and flexing techniques. All warm-ups emphasize strength, isolations, flexibility, endurance and musicality. Dance choreography is influenced by music videos, films, and urban dance styles. No loose fitting clothes. Students must wear (clean) sneakers.

A sub-category of Jazz dance. Lyrical classes combine technical aspects of classical ballet with freedom, fluidity, and expression. Lyrical dance plays with musicality and emotion, connecting movements and breath. Contemporary dance borrows from classical, modern, and jazz dance. With unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction, contemporary dance inspires a certain creative freedom. No shoes!

Studio Policies & Guidelines

To help every dancer feel confident, safe, and ready to learn, we kindly ask that students follow these simple guidelines:

Dress Code
We love seeing our dancers come prepared for class!

  • Hair should be neatly secured and out of the face

  • Ballet students should wear their hair in a bun

  • Please avoid wearing extra clothing over dancewear during class

  • Proper dance shoes are required for each class

Students who are not dressed appropriately may be asked to sit out, as proper attire helps them move safely and comfortably.

Arrival & Punctuality
If a student arrives late, we ask that they check in with the teacher before joining. This helps ensure they’ve warmed up properly and can participate safely.

📅 Absences
If your child will be absent, we appreciate a quick call or email to let us know as soon as possible.

🔁 Make-Up Classes
We understand that schedules can be busy! Make-up classes are available—just contact the office and we’ll be happy to help arrange one.
Please note that we are unable to offer refunds for missed classes.
